About The Memory Project
Created in 2001, The Memory Project is one of The Historica-Dominion Institute’s most successful educational programs designed to connect veterans and serving soldiers and students online and in classrooms across the country. The Memory Project Speakers' Bureau includes 1,500 volunteers from across Canada who visit classrooms and community groups to share their stories with youth.
Memory Project speakers represent a wide range of conflicts, including the Second World War, Korean War, Peacekeeping Operations and Canadian Forces experiences. To date, these veteran and Canadian Forces volunteers have reached more than 1 million young people. The Memory
Project Digital Archive, an online database that houses the oral
histories and artifacts of more than 1,000 Canadian veterans and currently serving men and woman, complements
the Speakers' Bureau. Visit the
Digital Archive.
The Historica-Dominion Institute is the largest independent organization dedicated to Canadian history, identity and citizenship. Launched in September 2009 through the amalgamation of The Historica Foundation of Canada and The Dominion Institute, our mandate is to build active and informed citizens through a greater knowledge and appreciation of the history, heritage and stories of Canada.
